Qualifying account funds generally need to remain at the required level for 28 consecutive days.
The financial evidence must generally be dated no more than 31 days before the visa application.
The Student financial requirement normally combines any outstanding course fees for the relevant academic period with the required living-cost amount. Your CAS records the course-fee position, while the maintenance calculation depends on where you will study and the applicable number of months.
Use the course-fee information shown on the CAS and identify what remains to be demonstrated for the relevant academic period.
Apply the current London or outside-London monthly maintenance amount for the relevant period, up to the route maximum.
Where the rules allow a payment or qualifying amount already recorded through the sponsor/CAS to reduce what must still be evidenced, make sure the evidence matches the route rules.
For personal account funds, the required level generally needs to be maintained for 28 days in a row. The period is calculated backwards from the closing balance date on the most recent evidence. A temporary drop below the required amount during the period can break the evidence chain.
Work out the amount your specific Student case must demonstrate before choosing the evidence period.
This is the end of the 28-day period shown by the most recent qualifying evidence.
The required balance must be maintained throughout the qualifying period.
The financial evidence must normally be recent enough when the online visa application is submitted.
GOV.UK allows qualifying personal bank or building-society funds where the account is properly controlled and the money is immediately accessible. Evidence can include bank statements, passbooks, certificates of deposit or qualifying bank letters.
A qualifying student loan can be used where it comes from a permitted government, government-sponsored or regulated student-loan source and the supporting loan letter meets the Student evidence requirements.
Official financial sponsorship can also satisfy some or all of the financial requirement. If the sponsorship is not fully recorded on the CAS, additional confirmation from the official financial sponsor may be required.
Some applicants do not need to submit the financial evidence with the initial application because of their immigration history or nationality/passport category. They must still meet the financial requirement, and UKVI can request the evidence before making a decision.
