Income and remote-work evidence for Colombia’s Digital Nomad visa

A focused guide to foreign-company letters, contracts, remuneration and bank evidence used to support Colombia’s Digital Nomad visa.

Work relationship Foreign-company letter

The letter identifies the relationship with the foreign company and the type of remuneration received.

Income evidence Previous 3 months

Bank statements are used to demonstrate the required income during the three months before the application.

Income threshold At least 3 SMLMV

The current requirement uses three Colombian legal monthly minimum wages as the income benchmark.

The evidence has to connect your work to a foreign business

For the remote-work branch of Colombia’s Digital Nomad visa, the current requirement calls for a letter in Spanish or English from one or more foreign companies for which the applicant provides services. The letter identifies the type of relationship and the type of remuneration received.

If there is a contract, the contract belongs in the evidence file

Where the applicant has a contract with the foreign company, the current requirement calls for that contract to be submitted. The letter and contract should describe the same working relationship rather than creating conflicting versions of the role, company or remuneration.

Owners and co-owners follow a related evidence branch

Instead of relying on an employment or services contract, an applicant who is a partner or co-owner of a foreign company can demonstrate that ownership and provide a letter stating that the work for the company is performed remotely.

The bank evidence has its own three-month test

The current Digital Nomad requirement asks the applicant to demonstrate, through bank statements, minimum income equivalent to three SMLMV during the previous three months. The evidence file should therefore make it easy to understand both the relevant period and the income being relied upon.

The strongest file tells one consistent economic story

The company letter, any contract or ownership evidence, the stated remuneration and the bank statements should be internally consistent. A mismatch does not automatically determine the visa outcome, but it can make the evidentiary picture harder to understand and may require explanation.

Remote-work and income evidence check

  • The company issuing the work letter is foreign.
  • The letter identifies the type of relationship with the applicant.
  • The letter identifies the type of remuneration received.
  • A contract is included where the applicant has one with the company.
  • If relying on ownership or co-ownership, that position is documented and the remote nature of the work is stated.
  • The bank evidence covers the relevant previous three-month period.
  • The income evidence supports the current three-SMLMV threshold.
  • Names, company details, dates and economic information are consistent across the supporting documents.

This guide owns only the remote-work and income-evidence seam.
